Operations in 617 Squadron
617 Squadron's first operational flight was the Dams Raid, on 16-17 May 1943.
David Maltby's aircraft was Lancaster ED906/G, code AJ-J. The story of its trip that night is told here.
In late July and 1943, the same crew took part in three further operations attacking targets in North Italy.
Their final flight, on 14-15 September 1943, was on an aborted mission to attack the Dortmund Ems canal.
